The sun was slowly rising from behind the hills, apartment buildings, and houses, as well as from behind St. Elizabeth's Cathedral in Ko\u0161ice, the capital of Haravara. Max and Majka were looking at the spires of the Cathedral. Outside, snow lay on the ground, dotted with footprints left by people who had passed by recently. The children were only sitting there, wondering what they would do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What if we draw this beautiful scene?\" suggested Majka, looking around for the most beautiful view of the Haravara panorama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Do you think we could do it?\" asked Max\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Sure,\" Majka reassured him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But I'd like to have some ponies on my snow too, and...\" Majka didn't finish because Max\u00edk interrupted her:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And a princess! With a scarf that trails behind her.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Come on! Why would my princesses have trailer attachments like tractors?\" Majka got angry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Majka, tractors have trailer attachments, but so do princesses,\" Max\u00edk tried to calm her down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"You mean they have trailers somewhere in their castles?\" Majka didn't understand, still drawing something on her piece of paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"That long piece of fabric that hangs down and flutters in the wind when princesses ride on horses. Or the ones they have when they are joined in wedlock,\" Majka's eyes lit up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"That's a trailer,\" added Max\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Then I want a trailer too,\" said Majka, and they both sat down with their paper, crayons, and paints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"You're doing pretty well,\" Max\u00edk said, looking over his shoulder at Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"So are you,\" Majka encouraged him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Majka...\" Max\u00edk stopped drawing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Majka didn't even notice that her brother had stopped drawing and painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I have an idea,\" Max\u00edk said, looking at the Haravara landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I'm listening,\" Majka continued drawing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What if we paint our room?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But you know we can't do that without our parents' permission,\" Majka looked at Max\u00edk and tapped her forehead, thinking that Max\u00edk had probably forgotten everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I know. And do you remember what Mom told us yesterday?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"This wall is yours, kids,\" Majka's eyes lit up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"You can paint it however you want, whenever you want,\" both children's eyes lit up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And the rest will stay spotless.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Well, what do you say?\" Max\u00edk continued to provoke her, and the corners of his mouth began to move strangely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"We should take advantage of this offer,\" said Majka, putting down her pencils and looking at the wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But... have you ever painted on a wall before?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Not yet. You know you're not supposed to paint on walls, especially in apartments and buildings.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I think it'll be like painting on paper,\" said Max\u00edk, running his hand along the clean wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Max\u00edk took his watercolours and started painting on the wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Stop!\" shouted Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What's wrong?\" asked Max\u00edk, startled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Look at that.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Max\u00edk looked at the wall and felt like crying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Mom's not going to like this,\" he whispered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Mom said we could put anything we wanted there.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"That's true,\" Max\u00edk said, calming down a little.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But I don't like this either,\" said Majka, standing in front of her brother. \"We should go somewhere to see how to paint on walls.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As they were reflecting on this, they suddenly heard a voice behind them:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Modern art, hmmmmmm.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The children turned around and saw their friend, the ghost Ka\u0161ko, sitting on the snow-covered window sill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"It was supposed to be a horse on the wall,\" whispered Max\u00edk sheepishly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And princesses on it and...,\" added Majka sadly, looking at the smudged paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Sure. And why did you paint it like this?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"How were we supposed to paint it?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Frescoes are best for walls.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I would never do that,\" said Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What's wrong with...,\" Ka\u0161ko began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I would never paint by animals on a wall.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What?\" Ka\u0161ko didn't understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Not even ferrets.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Frescoes,\" explained Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What are those?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"A fresco is a painting that you can see on the walls of old churches.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Sure, we've seen some of them...\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But they're just painted on the walls, right?\" Majka wondered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"To make a fresco, you first need to have damp plaster.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"The stuff that makes up the wall.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Right, plaster.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And when it's damp, you have special paints that you paint on the wet plaster.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And why does it have to be wet?\" Majka didn't understand, and neither did Max, but he didn't want to ask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Because the paint soaks into the plaster,\" Ka\u0161ko tapped the wall with the smudged paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Like a sponge,\" Majka thought she probably understood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And it stays there longer,\" Ka\u0161ko confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Mainly so it doesn't run down the wall,\" Max\u00edk sighed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Exactly, my friends.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But where can we learn to paint frescoes like that?\" Majka threw her hands up in despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"In the Gemer region,\" of course,\" replied Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Where?\" his friends asked, pricking up their ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"In the Gemer,\" Ka\u0161ko repeated slowly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And what is that?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"It's part of the Haravara region,\" Ka\u0161ko started to explain it in a professional way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I see.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Near the town of Ro\u017e\u0148ava...\" Ka\u0161ko tried to explain to the children where Gemer was located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"We know that - Ro\u017e\u0148ava!\" the children shouted happily, excited that their fresco painting lessons were coming up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Well, there are several old churches there, which are usually closed in winter, and so a secret college of spiritual and ghost arts is held there.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Really?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Would you like to see it?\" Ka\u0161ko suggested, as if by chance, knowing exactly what would happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Of course!\" the siblings exclaimed enthusiastically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Choose the little church you like best, and you can join my friends, the students.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Max\u00edk and Majka got on the bus that took them to the village Ka\u0161ko had marked first on the map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Koce\u013eovce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The children walked to a small hill in the village where a beautiful little church stood, like something out of a fairy tale. On the way, Ka\u0161ko told them that all the little churches had been standing there for more than 600 years, some even more than 700. And the frescoes inside were just as old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Are they still there?\" Majka wondered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Yes, they are, although some of them are damaged,\" said Ka\u0161ko sadly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Who could have destroyed such beautiful pictures?\" the children wondered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"There was a time, not only in Haravara, but throughout Europe, when strange people came to the churches and said that the pictures didn't belong there.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Really?\" Majka almost stammered at the thought of a church without a single painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"They started repainting or destroying them,\" Ka\u0161ko continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I would never do that.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Let's go inside!\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Do we have a key?\" they asked Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"We don't, but my friend Vikt\u00f3ria does.\" Ka\u0161ko muttered something, and a ghost dressed like a fairy tale character appeared beside him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Ka\u0161ko!\" Vikt\u00f3ria hugged him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vikt\u00f3ria<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"So, you decided to learn how to paint after all?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Not me, but my friends,\" he pointed to Max\u00edk and Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Human children?\" Vikt\u00f3ria didn't understand, because she had no idea that Max\u00edk and Majka could see her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But they can see us,\" Ka\u0161ko whispered to her, and her eyes opened wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"You know this is just a school for ghosts,\" Vikt\u00f3ria warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I know, but they're very good,\" Ka\u0161ko smiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Majka and Max\u00edk gave their puppy-dog eyes, and Vikt\u00f3ria jangled a huge key in the door of the little church. A small, beautiful gallery opened up before the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat's this?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Welcome to the little church in Koce\u013eovce,\" whispered Vikt\u00f3ria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many ghosts sat under the frescoes in the church and learned to paint. Vikt\u00f3ria pointed to the walls:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"These frescoes were painted here by Italian masters.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"All the way from Italy?\" Majka couldn't believe her ears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Ro\u017e\u0148ava and the entire surrounding area used to be very rich,\" added Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Why aren't they anymore?\" Majka wondered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Iron, silver, and gold were mined here,\" explained Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Wow...\" Majka admired the frescoes with her brother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And since they exported what they mined all over Europe, they could call in the best masters.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Frescoes were first used in ancient Greece, then in Rome - that is, Italy,\" added Vikt\u00f3ria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And now we teach it to our little ghosts,\" she pointed to the student ghosts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What do they need that for?\" Max and Majka didn't understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"So, they can whisper to the restorers how to restore the frescoes.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Oh!\" Ka\u0161ko also learned something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Max and Majka wandered around the little church. They admired the beautiful ceiling, which looked like something out of a fairy tale, and the paintings - or rather, frescoes - on the walls, which made them feel as if they were about to come to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"It's beautiful,\" whispered Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"It is,\" agreed Max\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Do you like it here?\" asked Vikt\u00f3ria after a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Yes... And who are the restorers?\" Majka remembered that she didn't understand that word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Come on, I'll take you to a place where you can still see their work.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Where?\" asked the children, because they didn't want to leave this beautiful little church-gallery at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"To Ple\u0161ivec,\" said Vikt\u00f3ria, opening the church door and taking off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ka\u0161ko decided that they wouldn't wait for the bus, but would use his flying herbs instead. And so, in a few seconds, the children found themselves in a small town - Ple\u0161ivec - in front of a church that looked very similar to the one in Koce\u013eovce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"You know, these churches sometimes look similar from the outside because they were built in the same period and all had to have one nave...\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"A nave?\" Majka and Max\u00edk looked around to see if they were standing on an island surrounded by water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Well, that's the part of the church where the pews are and where people sit.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Oh, so that's the nave.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Some large churches even have three naves.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Uh,\" Max\u00edk laughed, imagining what it would be like if they went to look at the church and it suddenly moved and floated across the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They entered the little church, which was opened again by Viki - the chief keyholder of the Gemer Gothic churches for young ghosts - artists, as the children had learned during the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But someone destroyed the frescoes here!\" cried Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Someone repaired them here\" corrected Viki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But they're not repaired, they're destroyed,\" added Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Someone destroyed these frescoes many years ago.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Why don't you repair them all?\" Max\u00edk didn't understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But they're almost all repaired,\" said Viki, running her hand along the walls. Her delicate hand couldn't damage these paintings - frescoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I can see that some of the figures aren't complete,\" Majka pointed out discreetly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">restorer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Oh, so he only fixes what's visible.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And what's clear.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Hmm, that makes sense.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Sometimes photos or sketches of the frescoes have been preserved, but that's not very common,\" explained Viki, while Ka\u0161ko flitted around the church and examined the frescoes under the roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ka\u0161ko and Vikt\u00f3ria showed the children how the frescoes in Ple\u0161ivec were restored, and Vikt\u00f3ria invited them to their largest painting workshop - in the church in Ochtin\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She hadn't even finished speaking when they were already dashing. As soon as they arrived at the beautiful little church in the small village of Ochtin\u00e1, they went inside and sat down among the painters - the ghosts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Choose a character you like and try to paint it on your paper. Then I'll teach you how to paint it on the wall,\" Vikt\u00f3ria whispered to them so as not to disturb the other artists at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Max and Majka couldn't decide. Around them were pictures that told the story of Easter - not about water splashes, but about the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas' kiss, and the Way of the Cross. And even though it was cold, the children began to look forward to Easter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then they saw it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What's this?\" they both asked at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What?\" asked Viki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"The three-headed creature,\" they pointed to a fresco depicting a figure with three faces on one head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"It's one of the most beautiful frescoes in the land of Haravara,\" Vikt\u00f3ria said dreamily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"But what is it?\" Majka and Max\u00edk examined the picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What do you think?\" Ka\u0161ko teased them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"A common three-headed creature?\" Max\u00edk ventured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Some kind of little dragon?\" Majka responded when she saw Viki and Ka\u0161ko shaking their heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Or...\" Max\u00edk began, but nothing else came to mind except more three-headed creatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"That's called the Holy Trinity.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"And what is that?\" Majka asked curiously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"That's one of the mysteries that even we ghosts can't explain. But we know that this head is the Father, this one is supposedly the Son, and this one...\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Mom!\" Majka exclaimed spontaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"...and this one...\" Viki wanted to finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Daughter?\" Max\u00edk tried to score a point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Spirit,\" Viki finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I see.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was clear to Majka and Max\u00edk - they were going to paint a triple head, horses, and strange figures with swords and books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI still want to know why somebody painted it like this and why somebody else destroyed it,\u201d Majka insisted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"A long time ago, people lacked the ability to read,\" Viki began to explain. \"Even if ordinary people had known how to read six hundred years ago, they wouldn't have had anything to read.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"How come?\" Max\u00edk didn't understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Books were written by hand and there were very few of them in the world. For example, there were only dozens of copies of the most famous ones.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Wow,\" said Majka, imagining a world without books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"That's why people told stories,\" explained Ka\u0161ko, while the children painted and drew pictures of strange Ochtin\u00e1 characters on pieces of paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"So, they could remember them - the stories,\" Ka\u0161ko continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"So, they drew them as comics,\" added Viki, praising the children for their drawings. \"I think we can start learning to paint on the wall.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"We'll learn to paint frescoes!\" the siblings exclaimed happily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vikt\u00f3ria just laughed and, together with the other ghosts, taught Majka and Max\u00edk how to prepare wet plaster, how to make paints, how to mix them, and when and how to paint on fresh plaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As they were painting, an apple suddenly fell out of one of the pictures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What was that?\" Vikt\u00f3ria asked, startled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"They're coming to life,\" whispered Majka, a little frightened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then something happened that no one expected. The beautiful pictures above the Gothic windows came to life - eagles and a flying bull began to fly out of them. The table from The Last Supper fell from the wall, along with the bread and a kind of cup. And the figures around them slowly came to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What are we going to do?!\" the students shouted, and Majka looked at her paintbrush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Did you dip your brush in this paint?\" Vikt\u00f3ria asked quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Probably. Why?\" Majka suspected she had done something wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"That's a magical paint that we only use when we teach anatomy - what horses or people look like in motion.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"So, you bring them to life for a while?\" Max\u00edk looked horrified at the slow revival of the figures in the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Exactly,\" confirmed Viki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">\"And how do we bring them back to life?\" asked Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"We have to use this... but no!\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What happened?\" Ka\u0161ko perceived a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"I had the magic powder for bringing pictures back from life here.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Isn't it there?\" Majka began to worry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Never mind - there's a magical cave on the hill,\" Viki pointed through the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Magical?\" whispered Max\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"There's aragonite in it.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What's in it?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"Come on, we have no time,\" said Ka\u0161ko when he saw another table fall from the wall and the little figures start drooling over the food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vikt\u00f3ria and Ka\u0161ko took the children toward the cave. When they entered through the secret entrance, Max\u00edk and Majka almost fainted. Above them hung beautiful silver objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"That's aragonite. There are only a few caves like this in the world,\" said Viki, searching for something on the ground with Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"How many?\" Majka couldn't hide her curiosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"You could count them on the fingers of two hands - and one of them is right here.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"What are we looking for here?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vikt\u00f3ria bent down and saw a strange powder on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\"That's aragonite powder. It has miraculous powers - you just have to mix it with this water,\" she said and dipped the powder into the stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As soon as she did, they flew back to the little church in Ochtin\u00e1, where the horses were already running around and the three-headed figure was shaking all its three heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Victoria sprinkled the powder into the air and whispered something to Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the figures returned to their places - to the pictures - and Max\u00edk and Majka, along with the other students, were able to continue painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That evening before bed, Max\u00edk and Majka whispered to each other that they would go for a walk to these churches during the winter, just to stroll around. Ke\u010f v\u0161ak Majka omylom pou\u017eije z\u00e1zra\u010dn\u00fa farbu, fresky za\u010dn\u00fa o\u017e\u00edva\u0165! Duchovia a deti musia r\u00fdchlo be\u017ea\u0165 do Ochtinskej aragonitovej jaskyne, kde n\u00e1jdu \u010darovn\u00fd pr\u00e1\u0161ok na \u201eod\u017eivenie\u201c obr\u00e1zkov.<\/p>\n<p>Dobrodru\u017estvo nakoniec dobre dopadne a Majka s Max\u00edkom sa nau\u010dia, \u017ee ma\u013eovanie je ve\u013ek\u00e9 umenie \u2013 a \u017ee aj star\u00e1 omietka vie rozpr\u00e1va\u0165 pr\u00edbehy.
