The sun was shining gorgeously outside, and Max and Majka were sitting - well, Majka was sitting and reading her favourite books. Yes, Majka was a bookworm, so she sometimes read several books at once. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She read a poem from one, a short story from another, but now she was marvelling at how beautifully people used to write, how they didn't write letters, but painted them... and then there was a bang!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Majka looked up and saw Max\u00edk slam his notebook about knights shut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat happened?\u201d Majka asked timidly, looking at her brother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNothing happened, I was just thinking that I'm actually a knight and...\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSure, you were bestowed knighthood in the land of Haravara in Kr\u00e1\u013eovsk\u00fd Chlmec by the former kings of Haravara.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, since then I haven't worn any armour and I haven't done anything knightly,\u201d Max\u00edk mused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut you don't have any armour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExactly,\u201d Max\u00edk said, becoming even more sad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut you don't need it,\u201d his sister tried to reassure him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd do you know what I promised the kings of Haravara?\u201d Max\u00edk asked his sister seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat you would defend Haravara until the end of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExactly! And how am I supposed to protect it when I don't even have armour?\u201d Knight Max stared out the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet's make some,\u201d suggested Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just as they were thinking about it, there came a soft knock on the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKa\u0161ko!\u201d cried Maxik happily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou came right on cue,\u201d said Majka, opening the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, well, well, what kind of welcome is this?\u201d Ka\u0161ko sang in surprise, looking around the room to see if something had happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt's good you've shown up, we need your help.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHmm... I'm listening.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, it's not so much that we need you as the knight of Haravara needs you,\u201d clarified Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen it must be something serious,\u201d said Ka\u0161ko very seriously and sat down on the bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is serious,\u201d said Max\u00edk sadly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet's hear it,\u201d said Ka\u0161ko, looking into the eyes of the knight of Haravara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI need armour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cArmour?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, armour,\u201d repeated Max\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen buy some at a toy store or a costume shop,\u201d said Ka\u0161ko, not understanding the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut I need real armour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat for?\u201d Ka\u0161ko didn't understand and glanced discreetly out the window to see if there were any other knights around and if he was missing something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, because if the kings of Haravara, who conferred knighthood on me, call me...\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen you have to go to Haravara's aid,\u201d Ka\u0161ko tapped his forehead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI got a sword, but no armour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat's true.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSee!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut since you're still a boy, you should have armour that is light but also hard enough that no sword from Ledabolovo or Skaderukaskadenohovo can hurt you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo you know of anything like that?\u201d Max\u00edk asked Ka\u0161ko questioningly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don't, but we'll definitely find something in Haravara's old secret files.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHooray!\u201d Majka began packing immediately with joy. \u201cOld files and adventure - that's my thing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhere are we going?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo the Dead Sea,\u201d Ka\u0161ko announced emphatically and started moving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhere?\u201d Majka stopped packing and sat down on the bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo the Dead Sea,\u201d Ka\u0161ko repeated slowly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut that's not in Haravara, it's in Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd what's so interesting about the Dead Sea?\u201d Ka\u0161ko asked teacherly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, it's the lowest place in the world,\u201d Max\u00edk remembered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, and what else?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"I know, I know!\" Majka forgot that she was at home and started to speak up. \"They found secret documents from the Dead Sea!\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Shh - come closer,\" Ka\u0161ko took Max\u00edk and Majka aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"We're listening,\" nodded the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"We also have the lowest place in Haravara,\" continued Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"And also with old documents?\" Majka's eyes lit up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Every country has such a place, but no one talks about it.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Why?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Well, because people could dig there and maybe dig too deep... you know.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Max and Majka quickly gathered their things and headed for the train station. They boarded the train to \u010cierna nad Tisou, but got off at the station in Streda nad Bodrogom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Where to now?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Since it's a beautiful day, let's go for a walk,\" suggested Ka\u0161ko, who considered flying over his walking friends to be a walk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"A walk?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Mhm. And while we're walking, I'll go over the secret Haravara script, which I haven't seen - or rather read - in about 352 years.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Wow \u2013 we won't disturb you then.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Max\u00edk and Majka walked along normal, normally dusty forest paths, as is customary on proper expeditions, while Ka\u0161ko was flying above them. He must have known the way by heart, because he was repeating the letters of the secret script in the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Stop!\" Ka\u0161ko exclaimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Are we there?\" whispered Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Almost.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"What village is this?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"This is the village of Klin nad Bodrogom.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"And is this the lowest village?\" Majka was already looking for an old monastery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"No, but there's a place not far from here that's the lowest point in the land of Haravara and the surrounding countries.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Let's go now!\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a while, they reached a place that did not look like the Dead Sea at all. It was a beautiful meadow with a kind of depression in the middle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Here it is.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Are the secret documents here?\" Majka could not believe her eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"You bet,\" Ka\u0161ko laughed mysteriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"But they're probably written on leaves,\" Majka whispered to Max\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Yeah, and probably written by ants,\" Max\u00edk replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ka\u0161ko approached the spot and was suddenly surrounded by four ghost knights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"What are you doing here, little ghost?\" one of them asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"I'm not a little ghost, I'm the ghost Ka\u0161ko,\" he replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Majka and Max\u00edk didn't even breathe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"This is a secret place for all ghosts, and you brought people here?\" the knights drew their swords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"But people come here all the time,\" Max\u00edk blurted out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Yes, but for walks, trips, and picnics!\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scary ghosts began to reminisce about the picnics that used to take place here, and you could see that they were remembering the days when they were still knights and could go to feasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Excuse me,\" Max\u00edk said timidly, \"but Ka\u0161ko isn't to blame.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Ka\u0161ko?\" asked one of the ghosts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"That's me - the ghost of the land of Haravara.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Ah, we've heard of you... Can you see us?\" the ghosts looked at Max\u00edk incredulously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"I am Max\u00edk - or Max the First to you, knighted by the ancient kings of Haravara.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Wait, let's check this.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the ghosts flew away and returned a moment later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"He's right.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"So what do you wish, Knight Max?\" asked the ghosts, putting down their swords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI would like to make a suit of knight's armour that is light and durable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd I thought we could find a plan in the old writings,\u201d Ka\u0161ko added to Max\u00edk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut the old knight writings are not here, they are in Stonehenge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHurray, let's go to England!\u201d shouted Majka, not realising that she had disclosed herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am the sister of the knight and the crowned princess of the land of Haravara.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou have only lived in Haravara for a short time, so you cannot know that we also have our own Stonehenge in Haravara.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNuh-uh...\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know where it is,\u201d whispered Ka\u0161ko, handing them tickets for the flying vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThank you!\u201d shouted Ka\u0161ko, and as soon as he finished speaking, they were standing in front of the ruins of a castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDoesn't it remind you of anything?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEr... sure - stone pillars and some kind of open space inside!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIs this Stonehenge?\u201d The children looked around, searching for druids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is, in fact, Ve\u013ek\u00fd Kamenec Castle,\u201d he said, pointing to the magnificent ruins on the hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut why did they bring the secret files here?\u201d Majka didn't understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt's obvious.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHuh?\u201d Max\u00edk and Majka looked at Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUh-huh.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause it looks so mysterious?\u201d Max\u00edk guessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, but it used to be a really important castle and it's been standing here for almost 700 years - maybe even longer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWow,\u201d the children began to look at the castle walls with admiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd this castle was conquered almost 600 years ago by a famous warrior - J\u00e1n Jiskra.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe learned about that in history class,\u201d Majka chimed in again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo he settled here with his army and raided the whole of Haravara - even beyond its borders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWow, so there were real knights here,\u201d Max\u00edk perked up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJust like you said - real knights in real armour,\u201d Ka\u0161ko nodded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd then another commander came to this castle, J\u00e1n Hunyadi,\u201d Ka\u0161ko continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe learned about him too,\u201d Majka continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was here that the two of them, as commanders of the opposing armies, signed a peace treaty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWow, this is a historic site!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Of course. That's why they brought the secret military files here. But where?\u201c Majka began to look around to see if she could see anything similar to the caves near the Dead Sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201dWait, wait...\" Ka\u0161ko thought hard, so hard that his head began to steam, and the children were afraid he would boil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know! In Klin, the files were in the lowest place - and it'll be the same here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd where is that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the middle. See that hole?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, it doesn't look like a hole,\u201d said Majka, because she still had the old caves with the files in her mind's eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut it used to be a hole.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe don't understand,\u201d said the friends, looking at the alleged place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a water cistern for the castle - and the files will definitely be there,\u201d said Ka\u0161ko, heading towards the old cistern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ka\u0161ko began to mumble various spells and incantations until he remembered an old knight's song and began to sing it. The children picked up their instruments and joined him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet began to collapse, and they found themselves standing in a cave full of historical records and books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is my paradise,\u201d whispered Majka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd my nightmare,\u201d said Max\u00edk, amazed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ka\u0161ko searched for an old document about knight's armour, Max\u00edk pretended to be looking for something too, and Majka picked up one document after another and copied the beautiful old letters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHere it is!\u201d Ka\u0161ko triumphantly raised his hand above his head with a document depicting a knight on horseback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo what does it say?\u201d Max\u00edk held his breath with anticipation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWait... yes, this!\u201d Ka\u0161ko opened his eyes so wide that they almost popped out of his head..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"What's this?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"It says here that Haravara has the strongest armour - armour made from Haravara turtles.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"What?\" Max\u00edk and Majka did not understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Made from Haravara turtles,\" repeated Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"You mean we have to go to the zoo park, catch a turtle, and take its shell?\" Max\u00edk asked, confused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Don't even think about it!\" Majka blushed with anger. \"We're not going to take a turtle's shell!\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"How are you going to get it?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"There's a place in Haravara called Tajba.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"And there are turtles there?\" the siblings laughed and tapped their foreheads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"It's the only place in Haravara where turtles live in the wild.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Boys, a knight would never take a turtle's shell,\" Majka continued to frown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"I don't want to.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Then how are we going to get it?\" Max\u00edk became a bit nervous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Many thousands of years ago, the ancestor of this turtle lived here.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"A turtle ancestor?\" Max\u00edk went from despair to jest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"A Haravara turtle.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"I see.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"And she was the mother of all the swamp turtles that live in Tajba today.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"And she still lives there?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"No, but she left behind a shell that is waiting...\" Ka\u0161ko searched for a moment in his notes, \"It says here, literally: For the knight of the land of Haravara who will need her help.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"That's me!\" Max\u00edk's eyes lit up with joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Let's go then \u2013 what are we waiting for?\" Majka got up from the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, the friends set off again for Streda nad Bodrogom and from there to Tajba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Ka\u0161ko, but these are swamps!\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"It's a swamp turtle, did you think it lives in?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"But how did the swamps get here?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"This water is from the Bodrog River.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"But it's not here,\" the children searched for the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"It's not far away, and this is its dead arm.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"But this isn't an arm, it's some kind of lake and swamp. When the Bodrog flowed here, it brought various types of clay and plants and sediments, and then it started to blow quite a lot, and in a few years...\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"In two?\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"In a few thousand years, this lake and these marshes were formed.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"And the turtle didn't have to swim anymore...\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"...but settled here.\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ka\u0161ko and his friends came to the edge of the marsh, across which a wooden path now led. Ka\u0161ko dipped his hand into the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPut your hands in the water too,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy?\u201d they looked at him incredulously and looked around to see if giant turtles were emerging from somewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJust do it and splash around a little,\u201d Ka\u0161ko showed them what he wanted them to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a moment of splashing, about 1,500 small turtles appeared on the surface. In the middle, one huge turtle emerged - it was the same as the others, only much larger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy are you calling me, and who taught you how to call the queen of the swamp turtles?\u201d she asked in a deep voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am the ghost Ka\u0161ko, and this is Majka, the crowned princess, and Max\u00edk, the Haravara knight who was invested by the old kings,\u201d Ka\u0161ko introduced them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am pleased to meet you. I am the queen of the swamp turtles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKnight Max\u00edk has a request,\u201d Ka\u0161ko interjected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYour Majesty, I need your help,\u201d said Max\u00edk, kneeling down in the swamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSpeak,\u201d she said, raising her head as high as she could out of her shell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a knight of the land of Haravara, I do not have my own armour. In the old writings, we discovered a report that the lightest and strongest armour in the world is found right here in Haravara.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat is true. It is the armour of our ancient turtle mother,\u201d confirmed the queen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMay I be so bold as to ask if I could borrow that armour as a knight of Haravara?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suddenly, something strange happened - the water began to bubble as if someone were boiling it. A beautiful suit of armour appeared on the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe wish of Knight Haravara, who is in need, is my command. That's what our mother told us a long time ago.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe knew about me?\u201d Max couldn't believe his ears. Majka and Ka\u0161ko just opened their mouths silently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe knew that Knight Haravara would come one day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo, the armour is mine?\u201d Max swallowed hard and even pinched himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt's yours. But it will disappear if you don't use it to help the land of Haravara and if you do bad things.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI promise I'll only use it to defend the land of Haravara.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTake the armour, Knight Max. And so that you don't just wear ordinary turtle armour, but real armour, go nearby - to a place that has been magical since ancient times. There you will find a huge suit of armour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne of the giant turtles?\u201d asked Majka incredulously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt's a turtle bunker built for us by artists from Ko\u0161ice, the capital of Haravara, in a place where miracles happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd why there?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause if something threatens us, we can hide in it,\u201d replied the queen and disappeared under the water along with 1,500 little turtles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Max\u00edk, Majka, and Ka\u0161ko waved to the queen and set off in the direction she had shown them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat did the queen say when she dived into the water?\u201d asked Ka\u0161ko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGo to our bunker, put on your armour, and wait for the first moonbeam,\u201d repeated Majka without error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a really strange structure. It looked like a giant turtle rising out of the ground. Max put on his armour and stood on the turtle bunker. Majka clenched her fingers because she didn't know what would happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the first moonbeam appeared, Max\u00edk's armour turned into real armour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That night, Max\u00edk slept like he used to - like a knight - with a serious look, but with a smile on his face.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
