Join us on a trip to places that will enchant you with their unique history and bio flora. The manor in Borša is one of the most remarkable heritage sites. Its interior contains a large exhibition focusing on Francis II Rákoczi, who was born and lived in the manor. After visiting the museum, you will have plenty of time left, for example, to visit the water adventure trail in Oborín.
Start this day trip in the village of Borša where you will find the centuries-old manor house in which the famous Francis II Rákoczi was born. This is no ruin, but a newly restored, modern, and entertaining museum.
After visiting the museum, you can take a journey into the jungle. You will visit a place that will remind you of a real jungle.
Vast meadows, wetlands, green swamps, and the incessant singing of birds - all this awaits you on the Oborín experience water trail. A bonus stopover for those who will enjoy the experience trail in Ižkovce.
The manor house in Borša is located right in the village. You can find it very easily when navigated by the GPS. In front of the manor itself, there are plenty of parking lots where you can park your car free of charge.
It is 57 kilometres from Borša to Oborín, about 48 minutes by car. You can get to the beginning of the experience route by turning off the main road. It is possible to park your car right in front of the experience route.
The newly reconstructed Renaissance manor house dating from the mid-16th century was built on the site of a medieval water castle. It has made its mark in history especially because the great hero Francis II Rákoczi, the leader of the last anti-Habsburg uprising, was born here. This happened on 27 March 1676. In the manor house, we will see how the world used to function back then, what kind of music was being listened to, or what it was like to live and work in the manor house. It won't be boring; if we have not been allowed to touch the exhibits displayed in the museums so far, here it is just the opposite! The museum tour is interactive, opening drawers and snooping around are essential. After the tour, we will create our own coat of arms, watch a small theatrical performance, and learn how courtiers behaved in castles.
Do you know the collection of stories "The Jungle Book"? Let's go together to the forest where we may experience adventures like those of Mowgli and his friends. The water experience route is a great place for young curious children and adults alike. The instructional trail will lead us along 3 km of safe wooden footbridges over the dead arm of the Laborec River. From the observation towers, we will be able to observe the animals living in this green territory and, with a bit of luck, we will even see or hear some of them. We will also create our own surreal animal and play a game of witches. Remember to take mosquito repellent into the jungle!
Let's go to the march together! In the village of Ižkovce, there is an experience route through the swamp that connects two neighbouring villages. During the trail, you will get to know many species of insects, butterflies. and birds. The instructional trail also includes a short wooden walkway right in the marsh. The wooden walkway ends with an observation point. Don't worry, nothing dangerous will jump out at you from the walkway.
